US CITIES: English vocabulary and grammar practice: ST. LOUIS, MO

Here's a new way to learn and practice English: We've developed a series of exercises based on descriptions of some of the most famous American cities. Here's a description of St. Louis, MO. Read it and choose the right word for each blank space :) Good luck!

St. Louis is a historic city in the State of Missouri. It is known for its (lung/long)-standing French and German heritage and Victorian past, as (evidence/evident) in some of its older urban architecture. More recently, the city has (modelled/modernized) into a globally known contributor in the (healthy/health) care and scientific research fields. Despite revitalization (problems/projects) such as The Bottle District (an entertainment district near downtown), much of the city is still very poor and very (dangerous/danger). In fact, St. Louis is often at the (beginning/top) of the most violent cities list. There are several museums and attractions in the city, including the (privately/primary)-owned City Museum and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. The Gateway Arch is (argumentative/arguably) the city's best known landmark, as a well as a popular (tourism/tourist) site.
