Talking about jobs/professions in English:
Bus driver
Practice choosing the right word when speaking in English about what a bus driver does
Most bus drivers either drive a city bus (as part of a city's
(public/people)
transportation system), or a long-
(distance/way)
bus that travels between cities. To become a bus driver, one usually has to go through special
(training/train)
, and have a
(validated/valid)
driver's license for buses. Many cities require that bus drivers wear special
(uniforms/costumes)
while driving. Bus drivers have to
(obey/make)
the rules of the road and drive safely. Most companies value drivers with a good driving
(record/biography)
. Although there are some
(reckless/rested)
( = dangerous, careless) bus drivers, they usually lose their jobs very quickly. When you
(board/mount)
( = get on) a bus, you have to show your ticket to the bus driver. Sometimes you can pay your
(fare/fair)
( = cost of a ticket) directly to the driver.
