Cities around the world (ESOL practice): Edinburgh, Scotland

Practice English grammar and vocabulary by learning about cities from around the world. Here's a description of Edinburgh, Scotland. Read it and choose the right word for each blank space :) Good luck!

Edinburgh is the second largest city in Scotland. Its (prominent/permanent) university, the University of Edinburgh, helped (do/make) it one of the historical centres of the Enlightenment, and earned it the (virtue/nickname) "Athens of the North". Edinburgh is an (attracted/attractive) city, with much of (it's/its) centre (both the Old Town and New Town) on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Impressive architecture abounds, and over 4,500 buildings in the city are officially (consistent/considered) to be of historic (important/importance). The city's festivals (the most prominent of which is the Edinburgh Fringe festival), are (held/taken) in August and draw a large number of tourists. The above- (noted/mentioned) attractions help make Edinburgh the second most (visited/vested) city in the United Kingdom after London.
