Screen Time: An Evening Without a Phone — Reading comprehension exercise

Leo looks at his phone many times each evening. He watches short videos and reads messages. Sometimes he wants to watch one video, but he watches ten. Then he has little time for other things.

On Tuesday, Leo tries something new. After dinner, he puts his phone in a drawer for one hour. He tells his sister about his plan. She puts her phone away too. At first, Leo wants to check his messages. His sister asks him to play a card game instead.

They play cards and talk about their day. Later, Leo makes a sandwich for the next morning. He also puts his books in his bag. When the hour ends, he checks his phone. There are three messages, but none of them are urgent. They can wait.

Leo does not want to stop using his phone. He likes talking to his friends. But he wants more time for other things too. He decides to have another phone-free hour on Thursday.
