PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE EXERCISE 1 (ESL)

The present continuous tense is used for actions happening right now, temporary situations, and future arrangements. Forming it correctly also requires attention to the spelling rules for -ing endings, which this exercise practices. Exercise 1 of 2.

Complete each sentence using the present continuous.
1. I speak German. = I German.
2. I work at the grocery store. = I at the grocery store.
3. Alex cleans the garage. = Alex the garage.

5. My friends do their lessons. = My friends their lessons.
6. You open the window. = You the window.
7. The mechanics fix my mother's car. = The mechanics my mother's car.
8. Tim buys toys for his dog. = Tim toys for his dog.
9. The bus leaves tomorrow morning. = The bus tomorrow morning.
10. My aunt prepares a salad for my sister. = My aunt a salad for my sister.
11. Robert runs quickly. = Robert quickly.
12. William moves the chairs. = William the chairs.
13. My cousins follow the rules. = My cousins the rules.
14. I write to my friends. = I to my friends.
15. He texts his brother. = He his brother.
16. The teacher drives an old car. = The teacher an old car.
17. The students walk to school. = The students to school.
18. Helena argues with her sister. = Helena with her sister.
19. Toronto gets a lot of snow. = Toronto a lot of snow.
20. I sleep in this bed. = I in this bed.
