This exercise mixes conjunctions with different logical jobs, so the right choice depends on the relationship between the two halves of the sentence, not just which word sounds natural.

Contrast:
but, although, while
My brother offered to help, but I turned him down.
Reason:
since, because
The flight was delayed because of the storm.
Condition:
unless, until
She won't sign the form until she reads it carefully.
Watch out for
however
:
it usually means "but," but it can also mean "in whatever way," as in
Season the soup however you like.
Context tells you which meaning is intended.
