The
second conditional is used to talk about hypothetical or unreal situations in the present or future. It describes events that are unlikely or imaginary and their possible results.
Structure:
If + past simple, would + base verb
Use:
• To imagine unreal or unlikely situations
If I were taller, I would play basketball.
• To give advice or express dreams
If I were you, I would talk to her.
• To describe impossible situations (in the present)
If he had more time, he would help us.
