The causative form — have, get, make, let in full
This exercise covers all four main causative verbs. Here’s a concise reference:
HAVE (neutral arrangement): have + person + base verb or have + thing + past participle
“I had the technician check the system.” “She had her portrait painted.”
GET (informal / more effort): get + person + to + base verb or get + thing + past participle
“I got him to agree eventually.” “I need to get this delivered.”
MAKE (force/compulsion): make + person + base verb (no to)
“The noise made me leave.” “Don’t make me ask again.”
LET (permission): let + person + base verb (no to)
“She let the children play outside.” “She let her son choose the film.”
Negative and question forms follow normal auxiliary rules:
“Did you have it fixed?” “I didn’t get him to come.” “She didn’t let them in.”
